I keep seeing this take now from doomers and Republicans and I think it’s idiotic. Hillary never was indicted or convicted of anything related to the emails, didn’t stop them from damaging her fatally. A cloud of suspicion can be enough.

Being realistic doesn’t mean I’m being a doomer.

I do think this makes him much less likely to be the Reputation nominee in 2024. Like, extremely less likely. I think it likely kills any chance he had, tbh.

I keep seeing THAT number pulled out by doomers and Republicans and I think THAT is also idiotic. Turnout was way up, obviously his vote total would go up for that reason alone but was still well below Biden’s 81 million! Reminder that Trump NEVER has gotten more votes than his opponents; Hillary got more votes in 2016 too. Even in the 2016 primaries, he only won with a plurality. It’s absolutely bizarre how people keep bringing up that 74 million number as if it’s somehow proof Trump is exceptionally popular when actually in context it’s proof he’s exceptionally unpopular. 7 million more people came out to vote AGAINST him.

Stop calling people doomers.

Trump caused havoc in this country and so far has gotten away with everything, even when it seems like walls are closing in on him. It’s not illogical to doom when it comes to Trump.

I want to go back to the main point of the topic, while I actually agree with OSR that purity tests are ridiculous when it comes to politics, that’s not what this thread is about. I am once again going to ask  him, and anyone who is asking for the immediate release of information by the FBI, if you are aware of both DOJ procedure and the fact Trump himself has the warrant and is legally able to release it at any time?

I do feel there should be some kind of transparency regarding a case against a former president. Even Trump, who I despise.

Trump could release the warrant publically.

Trump will never release the warrant. He's going to play this up as a witchhunt of epic proportions and claim that the Republican appointed FBI direction is somehow in cohorts with the Biden Administration to take him down before the election.

Releasing the warrant that likely contains information about the potential crimes he is being investigated for would squash that narrative.

If/when the warrant is released, Trump will claim it's fake and it's not what he was served, which he'll never release and people will believe him.

And even if Trump did commit some crime...

But this would set an extremely dangerous precedent because if it applies to Trump, then it would need to apply to Biden or Desantis or President Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, etc. etc.  

Future presidents would be free to commit crimes without reprisal.  And it would also open up the treacherous discussion of what crimes are "permissible".  

No one has as many staunch supporters as Trump and we both know very well that if the Democrats go down this path, things will not end well. Trump's personality, his staunch supporters and the current polarized climate are exceptional.

Fearing attacks from Republican terrorists shouldn’t preclude Trump being punished for crimes IF he did commit them.

I know, I know. Pointing out the hypocrisy of Republicans is like pointing out that water is wet. But it bears repeating that the goal of the GOP is the destruction of rule of law in order to enable their own abuse. It is important that we do not become numb to the endless stream of Republican falsehoods. Trump needs to be brought to justice, and the Republican Party destroyed as a political force.
