I have nothing really to add to the discussion other than to say it truly astounds me to see people still supporting Trump after all of the revelations.

Not just his attempt to bribe a foreign country to help him cheat in an election...but ALL of the things he's done.

These are decent people who have been brainwashed somehow to believe Trump is a good person and/or a good president; they've been brainwashed into believing that the end justifies the means, which it certainly does not if the means involve supporting modern day fascism.  I have never been so sad, bewildered, and ashamed for and of my fellow countrymen.  To support Trump is disgusting.  I don't care what your personal politics are, supporting Trump goes beyond that.  The man is evil and what he represents is evil.

Trump supporters are in the same bed with the KKK, Nazis, and other worsts of the worsts in our society.

No worries dude, we’re over 2016.  But we have a president who broke the law, so we have to impeach him.  We are fully aware the Senate won’t remove him.  That doesn’t mean we aren’t supposed to do our duty as citizens and that the House isn’t supposed to do its job by impeaching him.

But good luck with your blind devotion and betrayal of your country.

Democracy in this country is dead. The executive office no longer has any checks on it's power and the Republicans are poised to achieve one-party authoritarian rule within our lifetime. We are watching it happen and, sadly, some 40% of us are cheering it along.

On the Republican side everyone is going to acquit Trump. Romney. Murkowski, and Collins aren't fans of the President, but the political pressure is just to high not to support him. It could end their career as Republicans if they want to remove him. They might vote present, but that's only if sh*t really hits the fan.

Best case reasonable senario for Trump: 55 votes to acquit (all GOP + Manchin & Sinema) to 45 votes to remove (all the other Democrats)
Worst case reasonable senario for Trump: 50 votes to acquit(all GOP except 3), 4 votes present (Murkowski, Romney, Collins, and Manchin), and 46 for removal (rest of Democrats)
What probably will happen (middle ground): 54 votes acquit (all GOP + Manchin) 1 vote present (Sinema) and 45 votes to remove (rest of the democrats)

Remember that this is just my prediction and it is okay to disagree, so please be polite to me if you wish to do so Smiley

My prediction: Manchin and Doug Jones vote to acquit.  Romney and Murkowski vote to remove.

I suspect one reason Pelosi is now ready to release the articles is that she was holding them just long enough not to impact next week's Democratic debate.
That is my suspection too. On the other hand, Democratic Senators like Klobuchar, Warren and Sanders will be having to spend more time in Washington next week compared to spending time on the Campaign Trail in Iowa. I think this will help Biden and that's what Pelosi wanted. Make Biden the fact Nominee after IA. She is clearly intervening into the Democratic Race here.

The next Debate isn't until February 7th in NH meaning the Senate Trail could be over by then.

Just curious, why do you think Jones will vote to acquit?

He doesn't have anything to lose by voting for removal; I'm sure he knows he's not going to win reelection.

This has been my thought too.

If they have no witnesses, and acquit...it will look extremely bad.  It might even be so bad as to make their victory feel like defeat.  It's actually in their own best interests to have witnesses.

No witnesses = the end of checks and balances. The presidency is now an office with no restrictions.

Republicans have also now and forever forfeited any claim to morality and integrity they have ever had. Not just elected Republicans either.

This disgrace must never be forgotten. Republicans must be made to own this.

Everything needs to be revealed though.
