1980 was interesting to watch the Republican Party hitting it's stride with Reagan and the old conservative/populist Democratic Party collapsing.  Iran hostage crisis, nukes, the Soviets, gas prices, inflation, unemployment...there was alot on the table in that election and the one debate between Reagan and Carter was highly entertaining!
