I presume this is being asked because right wingers have stopped referring to those they disagree with as 'politically correct' (that was actually a few years ago) when they then took up the term 'cancel culture.' Now, it's either 'woke' or 'woke Marxist' or just outright 'Marxist.'

Of course, I'm not a Marxist as I favor free markets, however, those who are critical of free markets and would rather have mixed markets or even markets dominated by worker owned firms (democratic socialism) aren't Marxists either.

Even people who are critical of free markets are not inherently Marxist in their thinking as these ideas did not originate with Marx (or, more accurately Marx and Engels.) Much of The Communist Manifesto defines 'communism' by what it isn't, which is mostly an attack on other communist or socialist ideas.

For instance, the first Paris Commune was in 1791/1792 which predates the birth of Karl Marx.

I believe the only idea that was originated by Marx/Engels was adding the Hegelian dialectic, that socialism/communism would come out of the conflict with capitalism and its failures and that socialism and then communism were a historical inevitability. Of course, I might not be giving Marx the credit he deserves for originating ideas because I think he was a horrible person, so I have a bias against him.

Marx himself like any good capitalist was a shameless self promoter.

Answer by Karl Marx to the question "Why did the chicken cross the road?"
Marx: It was a historical inevitability.

No, my parents did not raise me to be jealous of other people's bank accounts.

It is interesting how envy seems to be wrong only when it comes to wealthy people. For instance, it seemed/seems our betters encouraged us to be envious of those who got to continue working at home after Covid.

Playing dumb, I've never understood why the only time people are called out for being envious is when they're envious of the wealthy.
