Obama looks ancient nowadays. Anyway, I think the Democrats need to cut Obama off as he is no longer a relevant figure in politics. He had his time and it ended 7 years ago, and he has not actively been involved in politics since. The problem with the Dem party is they still have their wagons hitched to the Clinton and Obama dynasty while also trying to pursue a new generation of leadership. Republicans have basically axed everyone from over a decade ago, the relics of Bush/McCain/Romney are not noticeable today, and a new observer to politics probably wouldn't even be aware of them without the internet.

Bush left incredibly unpopular and McCain and Romney lost. To Obama no less. And McCain is also deceased.

It's not very comparable. In fact, I'd argue Obama should get more involved.

Biden needs to get significantly more involved. It looks bad if the guy whose Presidency was over 7 years ago is campaigning more than the sitting Democratic president.

No argument there. Although ironically, one of the criticisms Obama faced was leaving state parties out to dry in non-presidential races.

I don't have prior years to look back on, but I'd guess probably not. 2021 had a big banner Governors race to drive up turnout. Without it, turnout is going to be lower.

FWIW Susanna Gibson overperformed the fundamentals.  That was the best Dem result in the state in a Biden +5 seat.

In fact the night was not so good for the dems: if biden does the same result, he loses the election.

I'm getting tired of reading this.

*Democrats flip a chamber* -> "Here's why that's bad news for democrats"

Down ballot races aren't always good proxies for national races. Virginia Republicans still have strength down ballot and Biden winning the state by double digits wasn't a normal occurrence.

In the history of this country, has a candidate ever been disqualified after the fact and the position goes to the runner up? I don't think that's a thing that has ever happened.
