The answer seems pretty obvious to me. You don't have to be a Thatcher affecionado to respect the islanders own wishes to be UK territory,

Sure I don't like the manner it was carried out entirely - but it was an entirely legitimate responce to naked and unprompted violence by the Argentinians.

Yeah. People sometimes forget that Foot was about as gung-ho over the issue as Thatcher.

Weren't all the party leaders all in for it? The only people who seemed to make serious rumblings about it were the hard left folks, Kinnock and Denis Healey?

Kinnock was to the left of Foot?
