While this party has run a good race, better than anyone might have imagined a year ago, given the reported results I have sent Secretary Hay a telegram congratulating him.  At least we can take some solace in the fact that any treaties he seeks to fetter our republic with will require bipartisan support in the Senate.  Given that one of the alliances Secretary Hay concluded is to a caliph who considers declarations of war to be a joking matter, it is good that President Hay won't have an entirely free hand in making more such alliances.

Hey, that was OOC Tongue

Princess Eudoxia is only six years old in late 1904 and her sister Princess Nadezhda is only five.

And yet the honorable gentlemen has already talked some weird, dirty stuff. No doubt a projection of his own fantasies.

The honorable Senator/Congressman/Governor/Whatever-his-job-description-is seems not to grasp our concept of hospitality. Once you have guaranteed someone's safety and welfare under your roof, this person is untouchable, period. We have no intention of hosting the Princess any longer than it takes to implement the peace treaty. If anything, such a trip allows her to see world other than Bulgaria and enjoy better condition than in her homeland, that had just been through the war.

As of all that sick, twisted things of sexual nature the honorable gentleman was talking about, I'm only troubled about his mental health.

I am surprised that the Caliph would call something Muhammad did sick and twisted.  Pleased, but surprised.

There is no point of dignifying the yellow journalism with response.

Next turn then will have Polish legislative elections?

Indeed, I will start researching on some German and Baltic princes to see the future of the German Baltic Duchy and the Kingdom of Lithuania.

I think I can help.

(I believe Butafly mentioned some interest in being a player).

yep Smiley
windjammer already pm'ed me about this.

Excellent! As soon as Windjammer and his Regency Council are done with work, I'll be glad to welcome you as Kaiser Charles!

Well, Austria-Hungary has broke all records. Three Kaisers, and one Regent, in about 5 years xD

I assume, given timetable, that by next turn the Kaiser's visit to Constantinopole will be over and summitt in Milwaukee begin?

Germany fully condemns any foreign power taking advantage of the situation

OOC: how ironic

ooc: ironic? germany's the only western power who isn't gangraping morocco iirc

They used a naval skirmish between Russia and Japan to conquer a quarter of European Russia (well after we had made peace with the Japanese). Turkey, of course, is condemning us right after conquering half of Bulgaria.

We can argue about the past forever, and it's not like Russia has no skeletons in her closet, but that's unproductive.

We feel there's been enough wars and crises already and the world needs some peace and cooperation for once.

I suppose we needed to have this big one in order to get things out.

I think Lumine could give us a chance to have some peace and quiet for a turn or two though once this is said and done.

I'm not sure, I always planned to end this at the Great War, so this game should end once the war is over and one of the alliances has won the supremacy. It may last one or five turns, but my intention is as of now (I could change my mind) is to end this once the war is over.

Hm, that's kinda sad. There were many other things I wanted to do beside battling Britain.

Well, I hope this game won't go away once the war is over. I understand we won't be still playing till the year of 2000, but it's still somehow too short.

If Lumine decided to end this game, he can maybe be persuaded to open a continuation later? Or maybe someone else would manage this?

I mean, we created such an ironic universe it would be a shame.

How about starting one after the Russian Civil War/Mussolini taking power in Italy? The playable countries would be the USSR, the USA, Britain, France, Italy, Japan, and Germany.

(if we do that I totally call the Soviet Union Tongue)

I'll take Italy again.

No place for me Sad

Guise, this war is stupid. Let's all make peace, allow Simfan to play as Ethiopia, then we all attack Ethiopia Smiley

Anyway, considering a very quick and effective military buildup the United States has conducted after declaring war on Germany in 1917, I certainly see Clarence's even greater efforts since he took over the U.S. possible.

Windjammer, I don't consider you "biased", I just disagree with some of the points you've made.

I must also concur with Clarence that this should have been handled outside of the thread. This game is already suffering from some organizational problems and there is no reason to deepen them.

Guys...

Lets make one thing clear: the course of this game depends on moves, timing and some luck too. If we were trying to be 100% realistic, we would need to spend months on one simple phase. And this game is already remarkably realistic thanks to Lumine's dedication and knowledge.

So you made good moves as good times, that's fine. But the very same rule applies to other players.

If we were trying to depend on RL history in every aspect, then both Ottoman Empire and Austria wouldn't be able to do half of things we did, five years of reforms notwithstanding.

Once again, there is a difference between recovering and becoming a major player.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that such a quick recovery of Austria-Hungary or Ottoman Empire are somewhat less plausible (if we were 100% realistic) than U.S. military and political buildup. You really seems to forget how industrialized and growing the United States were at this time. And again, given their ability to quickly form a large army and navy during the WWI, it's certainly not implausible there, especially with Clarence focusing on this for five years.

The point is, no game can be that much like RL. And it shouldn't be, otherwise it would be boring (seriously, who would like to play as Austria or Ottomans?)

This universe is based roughly on the world as it was in 1901 (starting point), but time here is passing somewhat diffrently and the game, by definition, must be very competitive. Otherwise, there would be no point of playing.

Lumine did a fascinating job by managing this world and keeping it interesting, yet as plausible as it is possible within realm of any simulation.
