Without hindsight (since back in 1776 I'd have no earthy idea about evolution to dominions): strongly-pro independence.

Suspending reality by having a hindsight, I'd wait for evolution to take place.

That's a very good point. We must remember that until very last moment, many revolutionist considered themselves British subjects and the Revolution started as a fight for their rights as citizens of the British Empire.
