This poll does tell us that Pawlenty is still not getting traction. Bachmann is.

Again, neither Pawlenty nor Romney even showed up to this thing, whereas most of the other candidates did.

I don't think this means much of anything.  I don't think there are any straw polls worth paying any attention to until Ames.

While true that it is an early poll, he should have gotten more votes. He barely got anything. I didn't bag on Romney's number for that very reason. 1% is way too small, though. That's Gary Johnson/ Buddy Roemer territory.

It's a bit too early and too hackish to put Romney in the same category, as Roemer.

Again though, so what?  Neither Pawlenty nor Romney participated anyway.  So what does this tell us that opinion polls don't already tell us?  Nothing.

True. Duncan Hunter won 2007 Texas poll. Why wasn't he declared a frontrunner back then? McCain, an eventual nominee, did not participated at all and won just 8 votes.

What does that tell us? Nothing.

McCain is a household name, and it was even then.

And Romney isn't some unknown one-term Governor many years ago. You can deny a lot to him, but not lack of recognition.
