I'd say that Minnesota is the Democratic Arizona since the Republicans keep trying to turn it red in presidential elections and yet fail. They even held the Republican National Convention in Minnesota in 2008 for that reason. Minnesota voted for Barack Obama in that same year and Norm Coleman lost his Senate seat after a number of recounts. In 2012, Mitt Romney also tried to turn Minnesota red and failed. Minnesota voted for Democrat Mark Dayton as Governor in 2010 and 2014 even though those were Republican-leaning years.
