The Committee for Ranked Choice Voting placed Question 1 on Maine's ballot in June 2018, although the effect of a yes vote would have been to sustain rather than repeal RCV.

The initiative has been certified by Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom and will appear on the November general election ballot. There were hopes that it would get onto the August primary ballot, but this will not happen unless the legislature adjourns earlier and, even if it did, it would not be passed in time for the general.
