I'm not an admirator of internet psychiatry, but Bushie really needs to see a therapist. Him not being able to see that himself isn't too surprising, but the fact that noone in his environment seems to have attempted to get him to seek professional help is, while not all that surprising for Oklahoma City, distressing. I'm especially wondering why none of his pastors and/or church friends try to steer him away from his selfdestructive behaviour. Surely he'd be at least as open with them as with some random strangers on the internet, even if he is very closed towards his own direct family?

I strongly disagree with the notion that it is hard to get help in Oklahoma City.  While I do have problems with the church, I can't say that they are horrible when it comes to helping each other in hard times.  Short of somebody coming out as a homosexual or a woman who has had an abortion, most god fearing church folk seem to have a genuine concern about helping people with sh*t like psychological issues, drug addictions, pornographic addictions, etc. etc.  I myself went to a church provided AA-like program in Edmond and it really helped.  Sure I had to listen to all the stuff about "god this, god that", but hey I wasn't about to spend thirty bucks to attend the alternative option.

As for this latest BushOK episode, I don't feel qualified to judge (or more accurately, I feel too lazy to read more than this first page of replies).  If he wants to adopt some children more power to him.  Hell, if he wants to move to Kenya and get a nice Kenyan wife, some homeless kids, and a bland color compound on the Kenyan Desert Prairie more power to him.  I just hope he truly feels the dedication and strength to go through with living in Kenya and raising kids.
Considering that he went through legal adoption, which at least over here is a very costly and time consuming legal act, he might as well go all out.

^Off topic: but Mecha since when do you have to pay for an AA meeting?  Pretty sure that is against the charter or something. From my limited experience you might want to chip in for coffee or something but there should never be any sort of cover fee.

Bushie seems a great hearted and well meaning individual who like many of us is often betrayed by their brain chemistry and inability to control impulses.

It's off topic, but it was some kind of non-voluntary AA thing.  Pretty much, and I don't want to give too much of my personal life away here, the school I go to gave me two options for violating a certain rule of the establishment.  One of those cost $30 for six sessions and the other was free.
Not sure if it was an official "Alcoholics Anonymous" (probably not, based off of what I heard here) thing, for the record.  I kind of use the term AA as kind of a general meaning.

And even then, the church provided one wasn't that horrible.

As for the topic,

I don't think it's entirely a good idea for Bushie to do everything just because he believes God is telling him to do it.  I really think that sometime along the way he needs to see a counselor or something.  I mean I've seen a few counselor or what not in the past few years to deal with my anger problems (look at some of my older posts, they're nasty) and it did wonders.

Just a thought.
