This is a good question. I sometimes feel this way about Canadian politics, where some of the top subjects of discussion tend to be foreign conflicts, things associated with Trump or wedge issues. Canada was a much nicer place 10 years ago when no one cared about Israel-Palestine but instead people focused on domestic issues.

Obviously, I think the US still has a country, and so does Canada, but maybe people need to be less distracted by foreign conflicts, TikTok and Trump's indictments.
