He could always drop down to Lt. Governor. Maybe then he'd have a shot at winning the primary.

Maybe. However there already all Phill suburb candidates runing so his candidacy could just split that vote and elect some else, damaging the GOP chances by putting two westerners on the ticket.

No it doesn't.  Nobody votes for the governor based on who the Lt. Governor candidate is.  They could live right next door to each other and it wouldn't make any difference.

Then explain Bergen County in 09.
