Perhaps, however pro-choice values will gradually become more accepted over time, and the pro life movement will likely go the way of the prohibition movement in several decades.

You have it backwards. The "pro-choice" movement will one day go the way of slavery.

The pro-life movement may dissipate then because it won't be needed anymore, just like the abolitionist movement.

They won't. The Republicans will stop nominating anti-slavery* candidates eventually, too, as pro-slavery* views become the norm and the 'abolitionist'* movement slowly but surely becomes irrelevant.

Hey, that works too. You should have been born in antebellum Dixie.

When will the Democrats next nominate an anti-abortion candidate for President?

If and when the Republican and Democratic parties switch platforms.

Both parties should one day be pro-life. Abortion must go the way of slavery, with support for it having no platform in reasonable political discourse.

In order for that to happen you've to (at the very least) find some way of stopping backstreet abortions from happening. Studies done in the U.K indicate that the number of abortions didn't increase by a significant amount after legalisation.

Murders and robberies and rapes all still go on. That doesn't mean we should legalize them.

That doesn't really address my point now, does it. It is highly unlikely that your views on this issue are likely to ever be those of more than a small minority, so in order for what you want to happen to actually happen, something will have to change at a more practical level.

Uh, the evidence suggests the opposite. Being pro-life is becoming the majority opinion, at least in the U.S.

Can you explain why I should accept a defeatist outlook with regard to stopping the murder of unborn children?

Your outlook on it is still only accepted by a fraction of the population. Most Americans accept it being legal with restrictions, as I and many others do. The idea that Abortion will be totally illegal in the future is hardly foreseeable.

Um, of course there are exceptions. I think any reasonable person would agree to allow abortion in cases in which the mother's life is in danger.

Labels and badges, baubles and fluff. Whether voters prefer ProLifetm to ProChoicetm is not important. All reputable surveys done on this make it pretty clear that only a minority of Americans support banning abortions in all circumstances. There is no reason to assume that this will change.

You can adopt any outlook you feel like, I don't care. I just think you're fooling yourself if you think that abortion will be banned in your lifetime and that your efforts would be better spent on advocating restrictions (despite a vocal anti-abortion lobby and 'friends' in high places, the United States has one of the most 'liberal' abortion laws on the planet) than believing that the pie in the sky is about to land on your plate, cooked and ready to eat.

Ah, I see you're not interested in a real discussion. You just want to rant and insult.

Have a good day.

What?

A majority of Americans prefer Abortion being legal with restrictions rather than illegal with exceptions (your view). I'm not trying to insult you, I'm only saying that it is highly unlikely for Abortion to be 100% illegal in our lifetimes unless some overbearing change comes into being. Quite honestly, I see an increase in people claiming to be pro-life meaning nothing.

But by all means, continue hoping.

Well you're entitled to your own unsubstantiated opinion.
