IMO it doesn't matter who controls the Senate.

The Democrats Dream that they can do "New Green Deal" "Court Packing" "D. C. & PR Statehood" "Ending Filibuster" pass "Heroes Act" are non existent with a 50-50 Senate and a best-case scenario 224-211 House.

Just not going to happen! Biden needed a bigger Congressional Margin to do that (Obama 2009).

I've been starting to think this as well. Biden strikes me as pretty sensible and with a narrow majority I would think the Ds would tailor their policies accordingly.

I agree. I mean, he's made it very clear what policies he stands for and that he is eager to unite America and tangibly move things in a positive direction. He's literally said that he would veto M4A--not that that's relevant considering most senate democrats don't even support it. Mitch McConnell spent the entire Obama presidency trying to stop anything from happening. We can't go through that again. Obviously all the details are never going to be 100% public, but has there ever been any indication from Biden, Warnock, or Ossoff that they would support some of the stranger ideas coming out of the left?

And just looking at the candidates on the content of their character, do you really think that Loeffler and Perdue are good people who will put aside politics for the good of America? I seriously doubt it.

To be fair though, you don't think Murkowski, Romney or Collins would be willing to break ranks to pass legislation on specific areas?

Unless by "break ranks" you mean switch to caucusing with the Democrats, they'll never get that chance because nothing can be voted on without the Majority Leader putting up for one.

She's in a no-win position with the question about whether she believes Trump has lost.  If she says that Biden won, some people will not go out to vote for her.  But, if she says that Trump is going to still prevail, it will bring some suburbanites into Warnock's camp.  That question was one she realistically had no choice but to dodge.

That's a hell of a self-indictment on your party...

Warnock & Ossoff better be putting an ad together that says something to the effect of:

"On November 3, Georgians selected Joe Biden to be our next president. But Lqeffler and Perdue want to overturn the election and give Georgia to Trump, because they think their opinion is more important than ours.

Lqeffler and Perdue don't believe in democracy and therefore do not belong in the U.S. Senate"

I realize most Republicans agree with their anti-democracy views, but this should appeal to the squishy moderates who don't love the idea of a Democratic trifecta but do place a high value on patriotism and the American system working.

Suburban women are going to lap this up, well done Brian Kemp. Hope some KKKelly ads are in the works, and I'm so glad that she beat Collins.

I would hope that she just didn't know who he was, but after she campaigned with with Marjorie "Jews Democrats drink the blood of children" Greene, who knows?

The Braves haven't announced a name change, but it's definitely an argument that Lqeffler and Perdue have that puts them in agreement with the majority of Georgians.

Hope it doesn't flip many voters though. The people who vote so casually that they'll base it on whether a baseball team changes its name (something that has nothing to do with the US Senate) are probably not going to be particularly likely to turn out for a runoff.

Wow, what a cuck.

This woman is a troll. Perdue had no way to know who she was.

So he just lied to a random constituent? That's even more pathetic.

How humiliating for them, to be forced by Trump to adopt their opponents' position by a vengeful Trump who still doesn't think they've done enough, even as they've debased themselves for him.

Why would anyone doubt Loeffler knowingly campaigned with the KKK, when we know she intentionally and knowingly campaigned with Marjorie Greene, who believes that Democrats rape, torture and cannibalize children in a revamping of Jewish blood libel/Satanic panic tropes?

For those confident a 51-50 senate can pass a public option, Connecticut. yes, Connecticut, recently saw its state senate kill the bill.

Health insurance lobby is powerful as hell. Dirty truth, but its the truth.

Already on Stage 3 (bargaining) I see.

For what it's worth, I had an e-mail exactly like this one appear in my work inbox late last night:

I've talked to a few other Georgia voters who also received this e-mail. (Interestingly, everyone I've talked to received it at their work address.) I don't expect it to make a huge difference if it's directed at Atlanta-area office workers, but anything that depresses election-day Republican turnout is noteworthy.

Wow, welcome back Xahar!

The real question is if Ossoff/Warnock win, how quickly do Republicans drop the run off system.

They should move to Alaska-style top 4 IRV and never have a runoff issue again.

Putnam County had <12,000 votes in November, so that would be Rs gaining 1,000 or less, and even that's assuming the extra votes also breaking 70-30, which there's no evidence of

Also, whichever way this goes, the ultraconfident on each side who thought this was a lock are still all wrong. Just because a 50-50 race came up the way you thought it would doesn't mean it was ever 100-0 or even 70-30.

Just because a 70-30 race came up close doesn't mean it was ever 50-50. Your assertion that it's a tossup is no more valid than someone else's assertion that it's not.

Stacey Abrams should be chief Democratic strategist for the whole country. Her talents would be wasted as merely the governor of Georgia.

Well predictit has flipped now and quite considerably.

Quite a shame. The last thing the country needs is 1 party domination at the federal level, divided government would have been so much better.

What monster will we have in 2024 now.

Don’t worry, it will be a very short-lived trifecta.

Doubt it. It will be 52-50 in the Senate by March and probably (but not definitely) 54-50 by 2022, along with a few more House seats to shore things up.

With the country back to normal and the economy booming, we'll hold the trifecta in 2022.

The Puerto Rico delegation is one Democrat and one Republican.
They may not elect Republicans to Congress when they actually get voting representation. Or they might - it will depend on whether the anti-statehood people, who are mostly Dems, get with the program or throw a fit and sit out, allowing Republicans to win.

Don't forget the Marianas - those people live in fear of North Korean missile attacks because of they're part of the United States. They deserve to have a say in American policy as well.

And perhaps most importantly, the US Virgin Islands, which just happen to be 76% Black. Time for some more diversity in the Senate.

That's a little dicey with the low population, but maybe it can work:

Potential senators Warnock and Ossoff would be the best senate delegation of any state, hands down.

Ehhh.

Arizona and I don’t think it’s close.

Never believed I'd find myself agreeing with MM on something, yet here we are.
Sad thing is after a Biden midterm both AZ and GA could revert to Dem-Rep delegations

GA is likely gone, but yeah, Kelly probably just lost his Senate seat.

Astronauts are cool. Arizona will keep electing him for that reason.
