to be fair, I've heard people make fun of Trump's kids more often than I've heard people say anything about Hunter. (hell, I think I've heard more jokes about how much people care about Hunter Biden than I've heard people complain about him) Obviously there are differences in the details and reasons/excuses for both things, but there are some interesting thoughts to take away. How would you respond to both of these stories if the shoes were swapped? Imagine if Don Jr was accused and had the same evidence against him that Hunter does. How different would that story be? Would we have had "Why are Democrats obsessed with Don Jr?" 4 years ago?
Um no? I can say without an ounce of self delusion that I would pay little to no attention to it because there's two huge differences. First, Hunter Biden has exactly f-all to do with his father's administration, whereas Don jr, ivanka, and Jared Kushner all were very very much inside Trump's closest presidential Circle for policy making and other matters. While Hunter Biden may have tried to Parlay his family's name in doing business deals in ukraine, he got exactly zero support an assistance from his daddy, whereas as soon as Trump took office to name one example among many many many, the Chinese government dropped hundreds of patent and other trade barriers to Ivanka Schilling her purses and other sundry Goods in their country.
This isn't an intellectually lazy what about and both sides comparison. The level of direct involvement from the Oval Office and levels of invertebrate sleaze are about the difference between a speeding ticket and armed robbery.
