There are plenty of communities in the Arctic. Murmansk has over half a million. There are several communities in the US. My wife and I actually have this place on our bucket list.

True, but literally speaking the Arctic is an ocean.
And Climate change hasn't been kind to it.
As I pointed out before, there are plenty of land masses in the Arctic, but unlike those in the Antarctic, they're actually inhabited (not counting research bases like McMurdo).
But your second point, sadly, is spot on.
