I'm happy to see that our resident State Representative is unopposed both for re-nomination and in the general. Smiley

We have a IL state rep on the forum? Who?

No kidding? Anyone have a link to his district or bio? It's good to know we actually have someone "in the biz" here.

Anyone knowledgable about IL willing to speculate as to whether Hoffman still has a realistic shot?

Damn these governor races are tight.

Dillard seems to be closing in.

So's Hoffman Smiley (a little anyways).

Quinn had an uptick too.

Looks bad for Hoffman. Most of the unreported precincts appear to be from counties either Alexi is doing very well in or only cast a handful of votes and won't effect the final results much either way. The exceptions seem to be the Cook suburb counties of DuPage, Kane and McHenry, but Hoffman and Alexi G. are running neck and neck there so it seems unlikely they'll give Hoffman the 30,000+ vote gain he currently needs.

DuPage + Cook together make up a majority of outstanding votes.

I think Quinn may pull it out after all.

True, but Dupage is so close it could shift the lead even by a couple thousand votes. The real key I think are those near 450 outstanding precincts in Cook, and where in the county they're at.

Anyone have insider info on this?

Edit: That said, I'm also surprised to say Quinn might make it after all.

How moderate are Brady, Dillard and McKenna? By his geography, I assume Brady is a crazy.

You just insulted everyone who lives in a rural area by calling them 'crazy.'  Your idea of 'crazy' seems to be anybody from a rural area.  Yeah you just insulted rural people in general.  Not that you care.

I live in as rural an area as nearly anyone on the forum, and remain uninsulted by Hash's comment.

Looking at Brady on the issues, a crazy might be slightly overstating it, but he's a couple steps to the right from a standard conservative.

This is one thing I don't like about my party. I've been around priests my whole life as my family has been involved in the Catholic church very much and most of them believe in evolution and yet these people believe in creationism. There's being religious, and then there's being stupid.

Seriously good point! The Catholic Church has made peace with evolution decades ago, and aptly explains that it was the tool of God' wondrous plan for the word. How does Brady wind up being a creationist?

IIRC, Santorum made some pro-creationist statements in his last term too. When one is more conservative on literal interpretation of the Bible then the Pope, that's conservative.

"A life"

I resemble that remark!!

Actually, like every election day, I got a tongue lashing from the Mrs. for not doing anything at home and only being concerned with politics.  I'm sure I'm not the only one though.  Good thing it only comes twice every 2 years or so!!!

Join the club. Wink At least you could say it was your own state's election.....

The pressure to force Cohen off the ballot as LG seems to be at a fever pitch. Sen. Durbin's quote sums up what all the top Dems are saying now “He really should spare himself, and his friends and family what he’s about to go through.”

Is Cohen purchasable? I mean, if he is, the longer he waits up to a point, the higher the price no?

Some sources are saying that he'd like some compensation for the $2M+ he pumped in the race. Other sources are saying that money won't be involved.

The irony is that the IL Constitution gives the legislature the power to pass a law that would have tickets run in the primary as well as the general. Even after the 1986 debacle, they did not invoke that provision to change the law. Yet, here we are again.

Couldn't you guys just shove that through in the next month or so?

Too late. The primary has already passed.

But at least it'll be corrected for next time, right?
