I seem to recall in the late 80's or early 90's that, conversely to the yuppie (young urban professionals), Vermont was encountering a huge influx of 'marpies' (middle-aged rural persons) who were overwhelmingly well-educated social liberals who relocated from the big cities in New England. 20 years later they are setting the local cultural trends and mores rather than being newcomers to town.

Antonio, how many times have you been to Vermont? (hint: living there in Atlasia doesn't count)

I was there a few weeks ago and believe me the people there are communists

If they were indeed communists you'd be rotting in a prison cell right now.

You know as much about communism as I do about neurosurgery.
I'd rather you perform brain surgery on me than have DWTL write my term paper on communism.

Just because Vermont is not a communist state does not mean it does not have communist ideals.  Geez people really need to get a clue
Did your parents run over your head when you were a baby? Nothing Vermont has ever supported has even been remotley communistic. Nothing. Maybe there is some slight socialism in some of their politics but even then I highly doubt that more than 10% of people in Vermont think that way.

OMG GUYZ SO COMMUNIST:

Relax, dude. DWTL has drank too much of the right wing kool aid that ANYTHING the government does beyond the military, border patrol and court system is "socialist/communist/facist". They don't understand the actual meanings of those terms and don't care either. It's just a way of saying "we hate Obama and liberalism" because, frankly, they've got nothing to offer but more of W's policies under a new candidate's face (TBD).

It would be so easy to switch the state if we had enough people move there.  I think libertarians were trying to make New Hampshire an all libertarian state, a shift in only 68292 votes would have allowed a republican to win in 2008 - not a lot compared to the other states that went 54%  for Obama.  Democrats were smart to settle in these states, they were low hanging fruit that could easily be taken over and secure easy electoral votes.  I know its not as simple as that, but still...
Yes, that is exactly the reason most people moved to Vermont in the last 20 years: To secure its 3 electoral votes for the Democratic Party.
