Not that any of these seats would be competitive but it is a sign of more Republican enthusiasm that they are more able to attract people to run hopeless races.

In 2018, Republicans didn't contest around 30 seats. Democrats didn't contest 3. You're seeing a similarly opposite dynamic here.

This makes sense. Out of curiousity, how many seats went uncontested by Democrats and how many by Republicans in 2020? I'd imagine the two numbers would be closer to each other then.
