No. It is a loss. You need blue state Republicans and red state Democrats. You need flexibility.

Baker was a check on the Democrats' taxes.

Even moderate Democrats find property taxes confiscatory. Why overtax? Where is the taxes going? Baker vetoed a lot of tax increases and his tax cuts created a lot of jobs in Boston, etc.

The problem is that red states will very rarely elect Dems.

In Governor's races, it's pretty even.

MA, MD, and VT seem fairly balanced by LA, KS, KY at the moment.

Difference is that the red state dems all got elected due to sheer luck and trash opponents

Well, red state Dems tend to break from the national party less in this era.  You had Baker/Hogan/Scott all publicly opposing Trump in 2020.  Scott announced he was voting for Biden.  There's no comparison on the Dem side.  Even JBE didn't endorse Trump.

Sure, but they could've announced "I'm a Trump democrat" and still lost their elections had they faced normal GOP opponents.

The only red state dem gov that got elected mainly due to skill and not opponent quality was Bullock.

That seems to fit Baker and Hogan as well (Calling Hogan's opponent "trash" might be a bit harsh, but his campaign was basically electoral malpractice).

Scott is his own thing and barely a Republican.

Little stuff compared to prostitute-enjoyer Vitter, Teacher union enemy, hated by everyone Bevin, and Kris “Sam Brownback is my idol” Kobach
