More than half of the participants in a Politico/Morning Consult poll released Tuesday believe that former President Donald Trump should no longer have a role in the Republican party. However, in the same poll, Trump led a list of hypothetical GOP candidates for president in the 2024 election.

The top-three early contenders are names on whom fortunes have already been won or lost. Donald Trump is into third favourite already at 12.5 behind the current President and Vice President.

The Politico/Morning Consult flash poll found Romney would get 4% of the vote, tying him with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
