The Senate passed the Trump tax cuts by a vote of 51-50, with Vice President Mike Pence breaking the tie. Democrats were united in opposition while Republicans barely convinced #fakemoderate Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski to vote in favor.

2008 Republican nominee John McCain has announced that he will resign from the Senate effective on May 31, 2017. McCain said he has a rare and deadly form of cancer, and will resign to fight it. Governor Doug Ducey has not stated who he will appoint to the vacancy.

GOVERNOR DUCEY APPOINTS KELLI WARD TO SUCCEED JOHN McCAIN!

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has announced that he will be appointing party chair Kelli Ward to succeed John McCain in the Senate. This caught observers by surprise, since Ducey is more of a bog-standard conservative and Ward is a lunatic, but a high-up member of the Governor’s staff said he did that to avoid Ward primarying him when he runs for re-election next year. The special election will be held in concert with next year’s midterm elections.

President Donald Trump announced that he would be implementing a revised Muslim ban. The new ban would drop the more extreme parts of the overturned one, such as the Muslim Registry. Trump will have to get it passed the Liberal-majority supreme court, which is an uphill battle.

The special election for California’s 34th Congressional district will be the subject of a recount after the two candidates in the runoff were found to be within 20 votes of each other. The recount was automatically ordered by California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, who cited the closeness of the race. The vacancy was created after Xavier Beccera resigned to replace Kamala Harris as Attorney General of California.

Media executive Jon Ossoff has won election to Georgia's sixth congressional district for the term running through 2019. He won with barely over 50% of the vote, avoiding a runoff by just over one thousand votes.

DEMOCRATS WIN WA-05 SPECIAL ELECTION!

DEMOCRATS FLIP SC-05 IN REBUKE TO PRESIDENT!

Democrats have won South Carolina's fifth district, flipping it from red to blue. Archie Parnell will take office on June 24, 2017. This race had extremely low turnout, and Parnell will face an uphill fight to keep the seat in 2018 and will almost certainly lose in 2020.

EDUCATION AND LABOR COMMITTEE APPROVES OBAMACARE REPEAL!

The House Education and Labor Committee approved the Obamacare repeal by a vote of 27-23 after several Republican members who were thought to be amenable to voting against the repeal. The bill is still unknown to most of the public, but those with an opinion are against it 65-35.

SUSAN COLLINS: WILL NOT VOTE YES UNLESS MEDICAID EXPANSION FUNDING IS KEPT!

Senator Susan Collins of Maine has announced that she will not vote in favor of the HCFA unless Obamacare funding is kept for states that have already put the program in place. As all Democrats are all but certain to vote against it, this is a major hurtle for Mr. McConnell, who will not be able to call a secret session thanks to a privilege revolution passed 74-21 that required the majority leader to notify all members of a coming session with at least 2 hours before it is gaveled in.

The House has voted 218-215 to pass the House bill replacing Obamacare. The close vote was caused due to the severity of the legislation, which will now move on to the Senate, where it will almost certainly fail without modifications.

The House of Representatives has passed the Obamacare replacement by a vote marked with several Republican defections. The legislation now goes to President Trump to sign. The bill is disapproved by over 70% of the American populace, although that may include some conservatives who think it didn't go far enough.

They will use the ACA repeal's likely unconstitutional passage to get moderates and bipartisan voters on board, grievance politics to turn out the base, and social politics to turn out suburban women. This is certainly a winning coalition if voting trends hold.

The United States Supreme Court has thrown out the challenge to the controversial Obamacare repeal law due to lack of standing. KAVANAUGH VOTED DOWN 52-48!

President Trump's judicial nominee Brett Kavanaugh was voted down 52-48 in a Senate vote held earlier this morning. Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins defected while the Democrats voted unanimously against him. The President, who will be faced with a Democratic-lead Senate by early December, will have to negotiate.

A poll released by Real Clear Politics (RCP) shows Democratic nominee and former U.S. Attorney Doug Jones with a 46-42 lead over controversial Judge Roy Moore. U.S. Representative Barbara Lee of California has announced that she will be running for Governor next year. Lee cited that fact that her constituents were being forced out by high costs of living and says that she will work to fix that as Governor. At that rally, Tom Steyer announced that he would be running against 'out of touch' Dianne Feinstein (which is kinda hypocritical as Steyer is a billionaire but he supports M4All and other such things, so progressives will overlook it).

JASON CARTER SWORN IN TO THE SENATE, FMR. PRESIDENT ON HAND!

New Sen. Jason Carter (D-GA), who won a special election last month, was formally sworn in today. Carter's grandfather Jimmy Carter served as the 39th President between 1977 and 1981. Carter's inauguration switches control of the Senate to the Democrats, the second change this congress.

VERMONT PASSES REFORM MODELED AFTER ROMNEYCARE!

The state of Vermont has passed a health care reform modeled after the Massachusetts Health Connector signed into law by Governor Mitt Romney in 2006. Rhode Island and Connecticut also have votes on similar legislation.

U.S Senator Thad Cochran of Mississippi has announced that he will be resigning from the Senate effective on January 31 of next year. Governor Barbour has stated that he will appoint Cindy Hyde-Smith to the vacancy, which will be subject to a special election in November.

SUPREME COURT STRIKES DOWN ND LAW!

In a 5-4 decision, the United States Supreme Court announced in a majority opinion authored by Elena Kagan that the new North Dakota law (HB-1369) was unconstitutional as it unfairly discriminated against natives. This decision means that several other voter suppression- err integrity laws will be struck down.

MAINE LEGISLATURE OVERRIDES GOVERNOR'S VETO TO GET MEDICAID EXPANSION!

The Maine state legislature approved legislation that would expand Medicaid. Governor LePage vetoed the measure which was then overridden. This came just 24 hours before the deadline for being able to keep getting Medicaid funding.

The United States Supreme Court struck down a law yesterday in Husted v. Randolph Institute. The law was a voter suppression bill that the court found to unnecessarily restrict the rights of minorities.
