POLITICIANS REACT TO ELECTION RESULTS!

Following Tuesday's surprising election results, where both candidates tied with 269 electoral votes and the Senate was tied 50-50, many politicians took time to react to the results. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who will likely go back into the minority beginning next congress (assuming Vice President Biden breaks the likely tie for Tim Kaine, as is likely), warned the President against ramming through Merrick Garland during the just over two weeks between when Democrats take a Senate majority and President Obama leaves office. Other Republicans echoed that statement. Several liberals have urged the opposite, saying this will enable checks and balances against the likely President's agenda.

TRUMP TRANSITION TEAM ANNOUNCED!

Despite not officially being elected President, Donald Trump is a heavy favorite to win in the Republican controlled house. Therefore, he has named his personal lawyer Michael Cohen as head of his transition team, who along with Chris Christie, Kellyanne Conway, Jeff Sessions, and Jared Kushner will lead the team.

The General Services Administration has already announced that both campaigns will receive federal transition funds in the lead-up to the House vote on January 5, 2017. The Senate vote has not been announced but majority leader McConnell will be in charge of scheduling a vote.
