However, it has emerged after the election that Abdullah, one of the leaders, greatly exceeded campaign spending limits. He therefore is exlcuded from taking a seat in this Parliament, and will have to stand trial for the violations.

Makeup of the Second Beaverian Republic following the August 2021 Legislative Assembly elections

House of Deputies
Democrats (lead by Achilleus Obama-Biden) - 45 seats (39.13%)
Independents (no leader) - 25 seats (21.74%)
Republicans (lead by Medard Nixon) - 16 seats (13.91%)
Other parties (various leaders) - 12 seats (10.43%)
Socialists (co-lead by Philip Boric and Alvin Bullard)  - 10 seats (8.70%)
Libertarians (lead by Murray Damocles) - 4 seats (3.48%)
Greens (lead by Dmitri Donner-Raleigh) - 3 seats (2.61%)

In the first election after the independence of the former British colony of Beaveria, Achillius Obama-Biden, the scion of not one but two major political dynasties, became Prime Minister.  His Democratic party received just over a third of the seats in Beaveria and Obama-Biden led a minority government with the support of many independent Deputies.

Beaverian Senate
Democrats (lead by Leo Cooper) - 27 seats (36.99%)
Independents (no leader) - 20 seats (27.40%)
Republicans (lead by Solomon Thomas) - 9 seats (12.33%)
Other parties (various leaders) - 8 seats (10.96%)
Socialists (co-lead by Peter H. Ross and Emilina Nathanson)  - 4 seats (5.48%)
Greens (lead by John Pickup) - 3 seats (4.11%)
Libertarians (lead by Bart Deadman) - 2 seats (2.74%)

Similarly, the Democrats came out on top in the Senate.  Senator Leo Cooper's minority government was propped up by both independents and centrist Republican Solomon Thomas.

(Maybe I will expand this with more details on Others/Independents, but honestly I'm not sure I know enough about these people)

I think it's time to change that, don't you all agree?  Sunglasses

Sad! The Independent Party's message is so resonant, that the only way other parties can win is by false accusations and cheating!

Great job going through 175 posts though, that truly takes some dedication

Makeup of the Second Beavarian Republic's Second Parliament after the September 2021 Parliamentary Elections

House of Deputies (115 seats, 58 needed for majority)
Democrats (lead by Sebastian Solman) - 41 seats [-4]
Independents (no leader) - 38 seats [+13]
--Far left - 16 seats [N/A]*
--populists - 12 seats [N/A]*
--Miscellaneous Left - 9 seats [N/A]*
--Miscellaneous Right - 1 seat [N/A]*

Socialists (lead by Ali al-Bannah) - 12 seats [+2]
Republicans (lead by Medard Nixon) - 10 seats [-6]
Peoples Democrats (lead by Lupercus Turner) - 6 seats [N/A]*
Libertarians (lead by Leonard Fromme) - 4 seats [-]
Greens (Collective leadership) - 2 seats [-1]
Beaverian Solidarity (lead by Manfred Schumacher) - 1 seat [N/A]*
Alliance (lead by Michael Beaverton) - 1 seat [N/A]*

In the Beaverian Republic's second parliamentary elections, the embattled incumbent Democratic government narrowly returned to power with the backing of Miscellaneous left independents.  Though still eight seats short of a majority, the Democrats opponents were simply too divided to take power.

Beaverian Senate (73 seats, 37 needed for majority)
Democrats (lead by Roland Stuart) - 31 seats [+4]
Independents (no leader) - 18 seats [-2]
--Miscellaneous Left - 11 seats [N/A]*
--populists - 4 seats [N/A]*
--Miscellaneous Right - 2 seats [N/A]*
--Far left - 1 seat [N/A]*

Republicans (lead by Erasmus Douglass) - 10 seats [+1]
Socialists (lead by Philip Boric) - 6 seats [-2]
Peoples Democrats (lead by Cecilia Corbrera) - 4 seats [N/A]*
Greens (Collective leadership) - 2 seats [-1]
Alliance (lead by Betto Marconi ) - 1 seat [N/A]*
Libertarians (lead by Murray Damocles) - 1 seat [-1]

The structural differences of the Beaverian Senate allowed Democratic and Miscellaneous left candidates to win big.  The Democrats returned to power with a majority that was followed by a push towards reform of the Senate.

* - Prior to the September 2021 elections information on the ideology of independents and party of minor parties was not kept.

This election covers the period from 5:57pm on 9/23 to 6:25pm on 8/27 (164 posts)

Miscellaneous Left! 💪💪💪

Wait is this why I have an absurd number of recommendations from you?

No, you just have made good posts recently
When I said that I think I attempted to go into your profile to recommend a bunch of posts but didn't meet any posts that I really wanted to, so I left it at that.
Over the past weeks though that's definitely changed

Nothing against your posts, West_Midlander, I think they're great.
But I really do find it odd how you made me choose to align with the Republicans and Conservatives rather than the Socialists and Greens. (And this seems to be a recurring theme of sorts om this forum, where people make me out to be "right-leaning" and such, as weatherboy did a few months back)

I don't quite harbor much of the same hostility that many Atlas Dems have for Conservatives and Republicans, but if one side is gonna push for Universal Healthcare, Fighting Climate Change, and decreasing income inequality, I'd ally with them over the side that places less emphasis on these issues, even if there are some things we agree on. The economic issues and the environment will be my first priorities realistically, rather than abortion restrictions (even if I'd welcome that).

My next Congress will arrive sometime...

Independents ally with the left due to PSOL's leadership and a general left-leaning majority. This is much to the chagrin of many right-leaning members of the party, however so many of them have changed avatar colors at this point, not much protest can be made.

khuzifenq's defection to the Democratic Party from the Green Party leaves only a handful of Green Party representatives left in the National Assembly.

No recommendations have been nullified for in my nation we practice democracy. ;)
