I think Abbott is most likely to win should he run again.

He might face a primary challenge from a more conservative republican. But it won't end well for the primary challenger.

Speaking of which, the Texas republican party needs to fire Allen West. He is causing lots of intra-party fighting and Abbott is the strongest on their bench. If West succeeds in getting his way and getting more extreme republicans to run, that might end up helping the democrats.

The best bet for democrats would be to run a Castro brother and try to get Beto-like fundraising. Still seems like an uphill battle against Abbott.

I also think that Paxton and Patrick will be more vulnerable than Abbott. But who knows if Paxton can even run again as all his skeletons came to light.

Perhaps MJ Hegar can run against Patrick.

The Dems have few options in terms of potential candidates. Lina Hidalgo?
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo is considering a run as a democrat. He's pretty popular. He's not a real democrat. He's a self proclaimed "RINO." But then again, MJ Hegar wasn't a real democrat either. She voted for McCain and Romney.

I've been in Brazos county for the last two weeks and spent an earlier weak in Houston. The only republican signs have been for state legislature as well as judgeships. Not a single statewide republican sign even in this fairly red downballot county.

Beto signs are pretty common by comparison, I think I've seen about a dozen in college station.

The Aggie cult is going for Beto lmao

Abbott did go to TU...
You mean t.u.

Glad state Rep Thierry went down in her ultra safe D Houston area district. She got a lot of media for breaking with Dems to side with Rs on some culture war stuff around book bans and gender affirming care. Looking at her recent Twitter activity she genuinely seems like a possible plant type who could pull a Tricia Cotham, so I think we dodged a bullet.

Oddly enough, Shawn Theirry is following Georgia State Rep Mesha Mainor on X (and vice versa), who switched parties in a blue part of Atlanta. Mainor only got press after she switched parties. What are the odds that they knew each other before?

I truly believe Shawn Thierry was planning to switch parties. She may even do it before she leaves office.
