Haven't done the pick 'em but jumping in to say Rock Chalk, Jayhawk! It has been a miserable past 13 years as a Jayhawk fan, glad to see the team finally enjoying some success. We have a winner in Coach Leipold, hopefully we can rework his contract to ensure he stays in Lawrence a long time. Even an above-average football team would put us close to Top 10 in terms of athletic programs, making us impossible to overlook with the constant realignment talks.

You might like this article, especially the section on Kansas (41 years?)

SMU/UCF moved to Wednesday. I assume that’ll count for next week?

The policy we've used (for at least the last couple of years) is that if a delayed game is played later in the same week, it still counts in the original week.  If it gets delayed longer than that or canceled, it's a no-contest for the original week and may or may not show up in the game again when it gets rescheduled.  So we'll keep it on this week.  I'll do the regular score update on Sunday and then another one after SMU-UCF.

Donerail went 4-0 last night, the only one to do so.

I just got home from a hike. What has gotten into TCU??  And Illinois, for that matter?

What a gutsy call by Baylor.  They went for it on 4th & 5 from their own 29, and the result was a 71-yard TD pass!

WEEK 5 RESULTS (preliminary)

At the moment, Dereich leads at 18-6, with Illiniwek and Terry a game behind. The SMU-UCF game was postponed until Wednesday due to the hurricane; I'll post a final update for this week on Thursday.  Only two people picked SMU and they're not among the leaders, so the results won't change much.  Full results:

18 Dereich
17 Illiniwek, Terry
16 Donerail, GeorgiaModerate, Harry, ultraviolet
15 NY Express
14 Thomas D
13 CalamityBlue
12 ExtremeRepublican, Grumps
11 JGibson

There were four unanimous picks, all correct:

Kansas State-Texas Tech
Utah-Oregon State
Alabama-Arkansas
Clemson-NC State

There were also four games with a single dissenter:

Oklahoma-TCU (dissenter was right)
Wisconsin-Illinois (dissenter was right)
LSU-Auburn
Oregon-Stanford

The win moved Dereich into sole first place, two games ahead of Illiniwek and me.  Year to date (124 games):

89 Dereich
87 GeorgiaModerate, Illiniwek
85 Harry
84 Terry
81 ExtremeRepublican
75 CalamityBlue, Donerail, NY Express
74 JGibson
72 Grumps
71 Thomas D

After Georgia's shaky performance against Missouri, Alabama has reclaimed the top spot in the AP poll by a razor-thin margin.  The Tide had 1523 points, two more than the Bulldogs, although Georgia had 28 first-place votes to 25 for Alabama.

Adding Louisiana Tech over UTEP (that's the one I'm missing, right?).

Yep.

Grumps went 3-1 last night (he was the only one to pick both Houston and CSU), with a bunch of people at both 2-2 and 1-3.

In last night's game, West Virginia blocked a Baylor PAT and returned it all the way for 2 points, or a net 3-point swing counting the failed PAT.  West Virginia ended up winning by...3 points.

This is the first weekend since 1993 to feature at least three games between teams that were each at least 5-0, according to ESPN.

Well, there goes the SEC (and my) dreams of having three teams in the playoff. (unless of course Ole Miss loses only against Alabama the rest of the way).

Tennessee is down 1 and it's not even the 4th quarter yet.  Please tell me you won't be like this on election night.

Michigan-Penn State
Eastern Michigan-Northern Illinois (dissenter was right)
