The CNN exit polls at 5 will be essentially useless until the results are final correct?

Yeah.  Early exit polls often bear little resemblance to the final electorate, and are likely to be even worse this year.

I think this thread will either end up being the longest on Atlas history, or mods will have to cut it into several sections

I agree, lol.

How long are you going to stay up tonight?

Also do the Canaries have the same time zone of mainland Spain or are they 0 UTC instead?

The Canaries are on Western European Time (same zone as the UK and Portugal).

UPDATE:  Big NoVA counties are planning to do an early vote dump at 7.  That’s a change from the past- now expect VA to be wire to wire blue tonight.

I wonder if this is in response to Trump's stated desire to claim victory early.

Why does CNN have a timer counting down to exit polls at 5pm?  5pm is simply when the networks will be *shown* the early exit polls.  It usually takes that at least 10 minutes after that for them to report what they've seen.

It wouldn't be CNN without a countdown timer.

Are these early numbers good or bad for Biden?

Good.  Trump needs an overperformance in rural counties to offset the fact that he's going to get obliterated in the suburbs.

That fact that IN was not quickly called for Trump is a very bad sign for him

They can't call a state until all polls close in that state, which is 7pm for IN.

Can't call a state with 2 time zones until both close, right?

Right.

Biden winning Anderson? That has to be an error, right?

If it's not an error, that's catastrophic for Trump.

Wolf just said that KY is about half and half EV and ED, while IN is mostly EV so far.

The NYT FL/GA/NC needles are here (but not showing anything yet): https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/11/03/us/elections/forecast-president.html.

I don't think I ever saw VA called on their map on the website. Was it?

No, never called.

NYT has called VA for Biden, but not CNN.

In other news.. 90% of Atlas analysis should be disregarded.

Depending on the absentee votes, of course. Wink
