I'm pissed I broke out my fatalism over practically nothing.

That's probably the best statement of Atlasian philosophy that I've ever seen. Smiley

Given the disparity of the reports, I'm wondering if there are thousands of emails total on the device (which according to some reports was Weiner's laptop, which Abedin borrowed occasionally), but most of them are Weiner's, while only 3 are from Abedin to Clinton.

Thanks!

Wow, I actually agree with her. Comey should give a detailed pressconference as soon as possible.
Yes, the frenzied and paranoid conspiracy theories and accusations from Clinton supporters about the system being rigged need to be immediately dispelled Tongue.

How dare these Clinton folks undermine our legal system by questioning its integrity! Loretta Lynn would never secretly meet Bill Clinton on an airport tarmac! Ever! How dare these Clinton supporters insinuate that corruption exists!

Heck of a singer.  Did you see "Coal Miner's Daughter"?

Total myth.  Source or stop it.

NYT source says "thousands".

If you want to keep promoting this "three emails" myth, please provide a plausible scenario where Huma only emailed Hillary THREE TIMES IN FOUR YEARS while they worked at the State Department.  C'mon people.

Mailing her 3 times overall is of course implausible.  But if this is on Weiner's laptop (which according to one source it is), it's more plausible that there were only a few emails while Huma was borrowing that laptop.

But we don't KNOW anything.  There's conflicting information flying around all over the place.  There's no reason to objectively think one piece is better than any other until something is released officially.

You guys realise no-one watches CNN?

Counterexample here.  (I try to hit a variety of sources in all parts of the political spectrum for both online and TV news.)

Or indeed news channels in general. And the few people that do decided who they were voting for months ago.

How do most people get their news in the US? Genuinely curious.

Social media, tv news.  Has to be those 2.

And newspaper/network news sites.

Amazing how fast Democrats are turning on our "institutions" when a week ago they were 'horrified' as Trump did the same.

It's not the institutions, it's Comey. None of this passes the legitimacy test and looks shady as can be. Trump's rantings are narcissistic, paranoid nonsense, whereas the concerns over Comey are realistic.

You're all calling into question the integrity of the FBI.  So much for all that stuff about respecting American institutions!  When they go against Hillary, then it's too far!

I don't have an opinion yet on whether the FBI has engaged in questionable behavior; there is far too little hard information available at this time to make any such determination.  But you are wrong to suggest that it's disrespectful to ask questions about any government institution, or to condemn them if they have engaged in wrongdoing.  It is the right of all people to question their government.

I asked this two times and I'm still waiting for an answer: don't you find it a little strange that no big name Republican is out there defending Comey?

I don't know.  Is it telling that Joe Biden came out and defended him today?

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/oct/29/joe-biden-says-fbi-director-james-comey-straight-g/

Biden was not aware of the emails at the time of his statement.

Says who?

Says the article linked:

Yeah, you're right.  I don't really see how that changes anything though.  They found Hillary's emails on the laptop.  Why would that change biden's thinking.

No, they found Huma's emails which may, or may not, have been to Hillary Clinton.

None of us knows what they actually have or don't have at this point.  You can find a source that says anything about this that you like.  Wait for some official information.

Looks like the polls are swinging to Trump on this issue.

There is no evidence of this at this point.  Can you cite any polls that show it?  (Real scientific polls, not website surveys.)  If not, you should modify or withdraw your claim.

Comey just did his job. Big news for conspiracy theory lovers Roll Eyes

comey knew himself that what he did could influence the outcome of the election....gets quite clear in the second letter.
Then why did he not recommend her indictment? Even if Lynch didn't act on it, he still could have referred her for prosecution. He didn't. If he wanted Trump to win, why didn't he publicly and explicitly call for Lynch to indict her?

You need evidence to recommend indictment and no matter how much he wanted to recommend indictment, he could not have done so. He could however create enough doubt with a vague letter a few days before before the election in an attempt to influence the election.
If he were such a partisan, he'd have recommended prosecution anyway even though he didn't at the time have the evidence. Lynch would have said no, of course, but he could have done it if he wanted to. What do you want from Comey? Do you want him to get you a bag of ice for all of this butt-hurt?

So he is supposed to protect and aid her candidacy instead of helping it?

if there is a case, there is a case...like many leaks said.

if there isn't a case...which the FBI doesn't know right now according to its own assessment....this course of acting is undermining the election.

it's worse than the horrible IRS leaks the republicans have whined about for years.
Ok. So we should elect a President who potentially can be looking at jail time? We shouldn't know these things until it is too late?

Ever heard of "innocent until proven guilty"?  Clinton has not been charged with any crime, let alone convicted.  Investigations don't always lead to criminal charges.  Many don't; this one certainly hasn't yet despite the many hours of FBI work that have gone into it.

Now if you're trying to say that any investigation could result in a criminal charge and be disqualifying...we could talk about perennial tax audits (which could lead to fraud and/or tax evasion charges), investigations into the Trump Foundation (by NY state), accusations of sexual assault (one of which, the child rape case, is in the court system), etc.

could it be that some middle-level FBI agents want to stick it to comey?

otherwise it's strange that the director is only briefed about this weeks and weeks after the initial findings.

That's possible.  I think it's more likely that FBI agents, like any other group of people, have a variety of political leanings, and leaks are coming from partisans on both sides in that group.  However, they shouldn't let their political preferences influence their behavior.  Any FBI employee caught leaking the progress of an ongoing investigation should be fired (regardless of who the leak benefits).

I think the Comey letter set the expectation that there would be new emails forthcoming, and that has been baked into public opinion by now.  Unless they produce something that's clear evidence of a criminal act on Clinton's part, I don't think there's going to be much further movement.
