So apparently his lawyer is currently under home arrest for taking part in a gang execution. If he was a fictional character people would already be decrying him as being an unrealistic caricature.

He's not going to resign cause there's nothing in it for him
 He's got no reputation to salvage, no friends in congress, no connections that might give him future employment. Being a congressman is the last job hell ever have before being relegated to obscurity and forced to eek out a living running cheap cons. Why would he resign ?
