Why did his campaign do so poorly in the primary??? I know his own family wasn't excited about his run, but why did this former Governor's primary end up failing so miserably?

He was one of many governors and didn't stand out or have much name recognization.
Also, Louisiana is not a "big state" by any means and outside of New Orleans, rarely is mentioned at a national level.
