I think I’m done with college football forever. That game last night probably took a couple years off my life and was the most heartbreaking and devastating sporting event I’ve watched since the 2015 Final Four. It was such an ugly game too; our usually solid defense disappeared, the refs screwed us at a pivotal moment, we managed to convert a 4th & 24 anyway but it all collapsed in the most painful way possible. A dream season has become a living nightmare. I’m just done with it. Sick of being Charlie Brown trying to kick Lucy’s football.

Unbelievable, a G5 team could make the playoffs and they're going to be P5 next year anyway.

Dan Mullen has been fired as Head Coach at Florida.

My guess at possible replacements for Mullen are:

Cincinnati Head Coach Luke Fickell
Baylor Head Coach Dave Aranda
Oregon Head Coach Mario Cristobal
Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops
Louisiana Head Coach Billy Napier
Michigan State Head Coach Mel Tucker

This would be a vertical, downward move for most of these coaches.

Maybe your conference should stop blocking the 12-team playoff for no reason other than spite.

You could have a Pac-12 team playing for the title every year rather than 25% of the years.

Why would that be a good thing? Expanded playoffs suck, they'd be awful for everyone, four teams is already far too many.

You are not just a clown, you are the whole circus.

Hey asshole, have you ever considered chilling out? It'd be one thing if politics were involved, but I don't appreciate being insulted because you don't agree with my opinions about sports. I don't understand why you want to be such a relentlessly unpleasant presence on every sports-related thread on this forum, but it'd help if you stopped doing that.

Tone doesn't come across very well online. I use insulting terms in the sports threads satirically, because I approach it with a very unserious mindset. You'll see I called my friend Donerail an idiot several weeks ago for thinking Clemson was going to upset Pitt. I obviously don't actually think he is an idiot.

In the future you can look out for my posts to occasionally contain satire Smiley

F**k, I hate Xichigan but credit where credit is due, Hassan is a baller and just cemented his place in that school's history. He was personally responsible for 35 of their 42 points.

Don't count your chickens too soon.  Bama is down by only 7 with a lot of time left.

I forgot about the propensity for the SEC to allow holding for an entire drive so generic sh**tty Bama system qb #9 can score.

Alabama has put up some sh**tty generic system players as Heisman candidates. Notably AJ McCarron, Bo Scarbrough, Trent Richardson.

But Bryce Young has to be the worst. He is without question one of the least talented and dumbest Heisman candidates I've ever seen. He needs an extra 10 seconds every single play of his line holding to complete a pass and still needs to run half the time even though his receivers are nailing the routes. He perpetually has this moronic look on his face and looks like he majors in "TikTok." It's going to be so hilarious when some dumb NFL team drafts him and he falls flat on his ass when he realizes his line isn't going to be able to hold for him all game every game and he's going to get sacked 5-10 times.

Agreed. Look at how Auburn was playing; they weren't playing particularly afraid of Bryce Young. Why aren't they giving someone like Jordan Davis from Georgia the Heisman? He's the best of the Georgia Defense which is the best in the country; that'd be a much better choice than defaulting to Alabama.

At this point Stroud from the Buckeyes is probably the favorite but I don't love that either. I'd much rather see someone like Pickett, Walker, or Davis as you mentioned get it. Guys who are genuinely elevating their teams.

Looking at who will be the next coach at Oklahoma:

My guesses:

Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury (It looks like this is who the Sooners want to hire)

Baylor Head Coach Dave Aranda

Oklahoma State Head Coach Mike Gundy

Cincinnati Head Coach Luke Fickell

UCF Head Coach Gus Malzahn

Houston Head Coach Dana Holgorsen

Gundy going to Oklahoma is about as likely as Saban to Auburn or, like, Belichick to UCONN.

Not mentioned earlier, but Duke Head Coach David Cutcliffe has resigned.

My guesses as to possible replacements for Cutcliffe at Duke:

Former Florida Head Coach Dan Mullen

Wake Forest Head Coach Dave Clawson

Clemson Defensive Coordinator Brett Venables

Only Mullen is somewhat viable there. Venables is the highest paid coordinator in football and won't leave unless it's for a seriously premier P5 program, and Clawson isn't leaving his long-term post after Wake Forest's most successful football season in history for what is, at best, a lateral move at a rival school with a historically mediocre program.

Venables MIGHT be a target for Oklahoma. But I seriously doubt he ever leaves Clemson.

I'm looking forward to the triple monkey stomping that Cincinnati is going to face by any of the other 3 teams in the playoffs.

Cincinnati would be favored over Oklahoma State, Baylor, or Notre Dame. The Alabama team that's shown up for the majority of this year doesn't stomp anyone. Saturday's Michigan gets an easy win but if the team that barely beat Nebraska and Rutgers shows up they lose. Georgia should triple monkey stomp anyone they face.

Yeah, that's a comical thing to say when Cincy already has a top 5 win and the rest of the playoff contenders except Georgia aren't particularly elite.

During the Iowa-Virginia basketball game, ESPN just reported that Brian Kelly is moving from Notre Dame to LSU.

LOL, no f**king way.

Anyways, my guesses as to who will be the replacement for Kelly at Notre Dame:

Cincinnati Head Coach Luke Fickell

Baylor Head Coach Dave Aranda

Oregon Head Coach Mario Cristobal

Houston Head Coach Dana Holgorson

Texas A&M Head Coach Jimbo Fisher

Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney (I don't think Swinney actually will leave for Notre Dame, but I do expect Notre Dame to try to hire him)

Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban (See Dabo Swinney)

Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh

Michigan State Head Coach Mel Tucker

Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart

Fickell is the only one that makes sense. Although unlikely, I suppose Aranda, Cristobal, and Holgerson might consider it for the right money - your last six are LOL and basically the most secure jobs in football right now.

We need a Toilet Bowl playoff for all the bad teams.

We have one. It's called the ACC Championship Game.

Both teams have Heisman candidate QBs but okay, funny joke.

This Alabama team is going to barely get by Cincinnati, play Georgia again in the finals, and get Saban yet another championship. What an embarrassing sport.

Georgia is intentionally tanking the game on the SEC's orders. It sure ain't because of illiterate Bryce.

Looking forward to the ACC game, where regardless of who wins I can at least be confident that the majority of participants can read beyond a sixth grade level.

U.S. News & World Report top U.S. public university rankings for 2022:

Georgia: 16 (48th among all U.S. universities)

Pitt: 20 (59)

Wake Forest isn't a public school; they're 28th overall.

You might have a point with Alabama. Wink

That's fine, my comment was mostly directed at Alabama. But at least they aren't Auburn with their demented anti-vaxxer coach.

3 tickets punched so far: Cincinnati, Alabama, and Georgia

Michigan can have the 4th if they lose tonight. If Michigan loses, 538 thinks Baylor gets the 4th spot, but I assume they'll just give it to Notre Dame (to get blown out in the semifinal again). I guess Iowa could get in the mix too.

the Pittsburgh/Wake Forest winner also being in the discussion.

Lol, no. The ceiling for either team is 10th.

Pitt and Wake Forest playing ref ball right now, and it's primarily benefiting the latter team.
