Surprised nobody has yet mentioned the Wagner Group and the expansion of Russian intervention and destabilization throughout many countries throughout Northern and Western Africa.
Not clear that Russia has a strong preference here, although Wagner probably backs the RSF (which they trained, although not very well). Wagner allegedly sent MANPADS to the RSF - which could mean tacit Russian support for them, or perhaps just a long leash for Wagner.
Haftar's Libyan faction and Egypt - close allies elsewhere, and governments with which Russia values its relationships - are apparently supporting different sides in Sudan.
It is very messy and, unfortunately, the weak internet infrastructure has already been crippled in a way it wasn't in the early stages of the Syrian and Ukrainian conflicts. Difficult for ordinary folk to see what is happening outside of the capital.
