Well, Riley County is very easy to explain. It's just #trends. Ancestrally Democratic places feel like mystical lost kingdoms. How do you explain Elliott County? Why did it vote D all the way until 2012 and then suddenly flip hard? Why then? Why so dramatically? Why did it vote D at the state level in 2019? Why did it then vote for Mitch McConnell by a large margin a year later? No one knows or understands it.
