A better strategy for progressive Democrats would be to accept that Harris will be the 2024 nominee if she wants it and spend the next 8 years getting their current supporters in Congress into high-profile positions (the Senate, governorships etc.) whilst "growing" new figures who can be leaders in future.
AOC is already too tainted by Republican smears and her self-description as a socialist. Her role in the future should be continuing to play to the Base and keep them enthused, as well as convincing them that the compromises her wing will inevitably have to make aren't actually a betrayal
