Google is your friend, friend.  Smiley  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cisgender

That word inspires so much irrational anger in me. I hate it so much.

I'm curious as to why?

A couple of reasons, but mainly because I'm not a fan of the trend (seen especially on places like tumblr) to categorize every possible paraphilia in order to make people feel special about themselves. I simply don't care if you're a lesbian FtM transgendered with a "headspace" occupied by an asexual otherkin and a litter of pansexual hermaphroditic zoophiles and you feel "oppressed" by the "cisgendered", "heteronormative" social construction because you can't talk about your quixotic sexual fantasies in public without people giving you funny looks. I admit this is a bit of reducio ad adsurdum, but I've yet to see a person who uses the word cisgendered regularly who doesn't act like they have a chip of their shoulder due to all the world being out to get them because they want attention for being "special."

In general, I suppose, I object to the rationalization, desanctification, and compartmentalization of human sexuality, and the unnecessarily cavalier way in which it is so often interjected into public discourse. I try not to talk about my sexuality and my predilections, and I don't care to hear about anyone else's.

Identifying as cisgendered is about as useful as identifying as a non-lawyer or not a paper bag.

Yeah, pretty useful.

Perhaps it was a bad example, but this is only relevant in incredibly specific circumstances. No one lives describing their primary role in life as "non-lawyer" on a daily basis.
