This is a very misleading topic.  Why am I not surprised?

The United Nations of World War II was basically the US, Great Britain and the Soviet Union.  It was a military alliance, not a peace organization.  The other countries were window dressing, but it was a good propaganda move to create the impression that the whole world was united against Germany.  If only it had been true, the war wouldn't have been necessary in the first place.  Still, it was a great public relations move.

The UN of today was formed in 1945 after the end of the European war.  There is a very loose and tenuous connection, at best, between the military alliance that won WWII and the current clownish configuration that resembles a mad hatter's tea party.  Libya and Syria as heads of the human rights commission?  Yeah, right.  That's an organization on some type of hallucinatory drug.
