Keep it but treat Christians equally and charge the Muslim gangs that vandalize Christian churches in Minneapolis with hate crimes.

I agree, but what you are saying is tantamount to not having hate crimes laws at all.  I don't agree with hate crimes laws; I don't believe there should be protected classes.

Since nobody will name Christians as a protected class, why should crimes against Christians be less punishable than crimes against Muslims?  It makes no sense, and by extension, neither do hate crimes laws in general.

No argument from me here.  I've never liked hate crime laws.  Every crime against a specific individual is done out of hate of some form; why is hatred between two white people less reprehensible than hatred between a white person and a black person?

Gabu, it's funny how often I agree with you.  What are you doing with a red avatar?

I don't like the whole concept of hate crimes. A crime is a crime.

Every crime is a hate crime, in its own way.  Punish actions, not thoughts.  I agree with you 100%.

Well, I suppose that, given my stance rightwards of the current Democratic Party combined with my general dislike of their direction at the current time, I'd perhaps be better suited to a green avatar, but I like the look of the red avatars better and I'm with such esteemed company as Nation, Ebowed, and Bob, so I think I'll keep it. Wink

For the Pacific Northwest Gabu, you're flat-out right-wing.  You do have some good company in the Democratic Party.  Still, many of your views are basically moderate Republican, and more acceptable in the Republican Party than the Democratic Party.  Tell a real Democrat you oppose hate crime laws, and you'll get your head bitten off, and be called all kinds of names.
