Bayh is better than most Democrats, but Coats. After all, it was 2010, so the person with the R next to their name.

Coats was very lucky Indiana has fairly early primaries - Stutzman was just starting to gain traction in the final weeks before the primary. There was also the unfortunate fact that Stutzman and Hostettler split the "Tea Party" vote. Had that primary occurred one month later, or if Indiana had runoffs, Stutzman would be the Senior US Senator from Indiana. I'm positive.
