It is not somethine one expects in this era, as it is far more rare than back in the day when healthcare was weaker and fewer millionaires formed the class of Congresspeople.

There were numerous cases in 1931 where newly elected members passed before the new Congress took office and thus allowed Democrats to take over by the time they were seated even though a narrow GOP majority had been elected in 1930.
