I really hate big agra. Hate the pro-open borders, the horrible working conditions, the unsafe products (and not just tobacco here either), and the corrupt relationship with the regulatory agencies that are suppose to police them.

I am pretty sure we made efforts to eliminate subsidies for them, and I would have no problem cutting them further or in some otherways reforming but I am not in the business of misapplying my anger at any horrible people and in so doing hurt people we want to help, like the small outfits for instance.

That said if we are going to do this, I will insist on the transition phase that Maxwell spoke of.

Well there is the Ebowed Amnesty bs from back in 2007, and then the stuff we passed last fall and winter. There might be one or two bills in between, that I am forgetting.

I mean, "Objection filed by Senator sbane, the above amendment is now at vote, Senators please vote Aye, Nay or Abstain". Tongue

That is what I get for not reading the thread completely. Tongue

What is the justification for subsidies for small farms?

Can anyone answer this, or are we just going to continue spending billions subsidizing small farms because it feels good and might be worth a few votes in the next election?

Well in Atlasia it wouldn't be worth any votes for obvious reasons.

One would possibly to aid rural communities, another could be to avoid monopolization of the food production by a few large agribusiness.

3-5-0-2 w/ 2 days remaining on 57:29

bore and Gass3268 not voting. Shocking, the dynamic duo has both voted for once. Tongue

You know, Mr. President, we could very well alter the aid from the way it has been since 30's and replace it with some other form that benefits the whole of the rural community. MY primary concenr is that we don't abandon these communities.

And they say that the Senate isn't interesting? Tongue Aside from some of the rhetoric, I think it has been wonderful and I wish I hadn't missed the best part. Scott participating is a one hell of a great bonus, as well. Wink Now if only I could had this over the summer on the Mental Health Bill. Tongue

I am dismayed by the introduction of real life animousities into this game (ex. In RL rural areas get what they want and screw cities and minorities). We don't have that going on here, there is no reason to operate in debates like it is.

Senator, this overlaps with the previous passed amendment but would not repeal it since the amendment neither references the new clause, nor claims to be a complete replacement for the current text. Do you desire to change this text to effect a repeal of that or to clarify how ir is to be renumbered upon this one passing?
