It does feel as if globally, the tide has finally turned on nuclear energy. With this and news of Germany becoming more open to the source, it’s clear that the trauma of Chernobyl and Three Mile Island has simmered down, not sure whether this is a genuine shift in attitudes on the individual level or just demographic change (with younger generations being more inclined to support nuclear) but either way it is an encouraging development.
That Three Mile Island, a resounding success in terms of disaster management that resulted in almost no environmental contamination, engendered any trauma at all is truly facepalm-worthy. Fortunately Japan has more sense than that.
