Rowan and Phil, what exactly were your predictions in 2008 again?

I didn't make an actual prediction map on here(mostly because I didn't know how), but I had Obama winning. The only ones I thought McCain would win were IN, NC, and the CD in NE. Everything else I had right.

That's John Murtha for ya. One of these days his constituents will vote him out. It has a better chance to happen now since McCain won that district, which is the first time a Republican won his district in like forever.

Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter will switch his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat and announced today that he will run in 2010 as a Democrat, according to a statement he released this morning.

Specter's decision would give Democrats a 60 seat filibuster proof majority in the Senate assuming Democrat Al Franken is eventually sworn in as the next Senator from Minnesota. (Former Sen. Norm Coleman is appealing Franken's victory in the state Supreme Court.)

"I have decided to run for re-election in 2010 in the Democratic primary," said Specter in a statement. "I am ready, willing and anxious to take on all comers and have my candidacy for re-election determined in a general election."

I'd love to see a Specter/Toomey head to head right now. I'd gander it'd be pretty damn close.

I hope that happens. I would support Ridge in a heartbeat.

Specter backtracks on Coleman! LOL, this is getting ridiculous. Does this man not have any principles, or does he just make things up as he goes along?

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) reversed himself from comments he made in an interview in which he said he wanted Norm Coleman (R) to prevail in the disputed Minnesota Senate race against Al Franken (D), CQ Politics reports.

Said Specter: "In the swirl of moving from one caucus to another, I have to get used to my new teammates. I'm ordinarily pretty correct in what I say. I've made a career of being precise. I conclusively misspoke."

Asked who he's backing now in elections, Specter said, "I'm looking for more Democratic members. Nothing personal."

Specter:

"Senator Reid assured me that I would keep my committee assignments and that I would have the same seniority as if I had been elected as a Democrat in 1980. It was understood that the issue of subcommittee chairmanships would not be decided until after the 2010 election. Some members of the caucus have raised concerns about my seniority, so the caucus will vote on my seniority at the same time subcommittee chairmanships are confirmed after the 2010 election. I am confident my seniority will be maintained under the arrangement I worked out with Senator Reid."

Tom Ridge announced today that he will not seek the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in next year's primary.

"I am enormously grateful for the confidence my party expressed in me, the encouragement and kindness of my fellow citizens in Pennsylvania and the valuable counsel I received from so many of my party colleagues," the former congressman, governor and Homeland Security director said in a news release.

Mr. Ridge's name had surfaced after Arlen Specter announced he was switching from the Republican to the Democratic Party for the election.

Kos uses hard weights which might not be good for off-year elections.
