A truly horrible and disturbing act. RIP to the victims, and my condolences go out to the victims' families and the people of Norway. I was reading through the thread, and noticed some posters mentioning that Norway does not have life imprisonment or the death penalty. Is there anyway Parliament or the Prime Minister could reinstate it before the perpetrator goes on trial? It doesn't seem just considering the heinous nature of this crime that Breivik should be able to get out of prison in 20 years.

Regarding the politics, what strikes me as bizarre is that based on the comments I've seen he does not appear to be that radical. He seems more like an average member of the conservative wing of a conservative party in Scandinavia. It's strange how you can go from there to slaughtering people.

He wasn't even from the conservative wing, at least socially.  The Progress Party was opposed to same sex marriage and he listed himself as being "pro-gay."  Bizarre.

From what I understand, calling him a "Nazi" is definitely a misnomer. Apparently, he sees Muslims as a menace to society and he blames the left-wing government for the fact that Muslims live in Norway.

While he's probably not the only right-winger to see it that way, he seems to be the one out of 10,000 people who actually shoots people over it. People work in mysterious ways.

Part of what is so weird is the fact that he didn't set out to kill Muslims (which he could easily have done). Instead he wanted to kill Social Democrats because he held them responsible for policies he thought detrimental to the country.

It was more sinister than attacking people on the basis of religion and political ideology alone. He targeted young people, who could have quite possibly formed the future leadership, and directed policy of the Norwegian Labor Party. Norway may have lost dozens, if not more, brilliant political minds in yesterday's attack.

Why did the people in control of the ferry even let him on board towards the island? I know he was dressed as a police officer, but wouldn't you expect extra precautions to be taken seeing as it was a political event?

The military uniform looks like a modern Knight Templar uniform, which could be either a Masonic body or one of several private revival organizations. The sleeve patch looks like Templar symbolism. I did not read manifesto, but the cross on it is a Templar cross.  That could play into an anti-Islamic stance, as the Templars were originally a Crusader order.  It doesn't explain shooting Norwegians.

The manifesto basically calls for killing all of the enemies of a Christian monoculture. In his opinion that is multiculturalists, Muslims, media and social democrats+socialists.  He ranks these groups as traitors who should be killed.   They are labeled as "Cultural Marxists/suicidal humanists/capitalist globalists"

He foreshadowed attacks on political parties by listing one possible target as:

Annual political party meeting Barbeque

"A prioritised target is the annual party meeting of the socialist/social democrat party in your country. This is held once a year usually in a relatively large conference centre. The annual political party meeting will consist of delegate representatives from all counties in the country. The number of participants will range from 100-400 depending on country and will usually be held in the capital or close to it....

Note – target selection: if you know for sure that the ruling multiculturalist party has many armed guards you can always target another party (second largest party that supports multiculturalism). It is usually only the ruling party that has any form of effective defensive measures while other party’s annual political party meetings are often completely defenceless. If you notice that the intelligence agencies are increasing the security substantially during annual party meetings then consider other targets, such as the annual party meeting on a city level."

I feel conflicted about posting this p.o.s. rantings, but it very important to know a group or individuals motivations.

All this evidence of premeditation is very chilling. It amazes me how some people can turn out to be so evil.

I'm sorry but that's Fuc%ed up. Breivik killed 76 people. He should get the needle in his arm, or at least thrown in a prison with Soviet style conditions as far as I and many other people are concerned, not recording songs, enjoying state of the art healthcare, or learning how to make sorbet.
