Are you kidding, of course it makes sense. He already got all the good headlines for doing this, what's the point in actually doing it? It's not actually a good thing to do.
If he was a Democrat, he would get crucified for rolling back a thing people were going gaga over. But since he's a Republican, and the right-wing media complex wants him to win... they just won't talk about it. Nobody will ever hear about it.
And since it wasn't a thing that was tangibly going to improve anyone's actual life, just a stupid, destructive, symbolic anti-woke gesture, nobody is actually going to be hurt from him not actually doing it, so there's nobody to complain.
