The best answer of course is:it depends. Knowing what we know now, in particular the way the Israeli's misbehaved for 60 years, the answer can only be no. It has created huge political unrest in the Middle East and I'm pretty sure there would have been no 9/11 if Israel had not existed. That said in 1948 it seemed reasonble to grant the Jews their own state.
