I mean, he'd still be a better candidate than the sacrificial lamb the FloriDems would run otherwise (since nobody else would want to challenge DeSantis).

Has any politician who lost an election and then attempted a rematch against the same person for the same office ever actually succeeded?

Joe Donnelly also lost to a Republican house incumbent in 2004 and came back to beat him in 2006.

That happens a lot in House races. But it's MUCH rarer in statewide elections.
