How did Warnock become the "winner" in the first place? Is he some kind of institution? I know he rose to national attention when he delivered the benediction at the public prayer service at the second inauguration of Barack Obama. But is that the only reason that made him the frontrunner? As far as I know he has never hold any political post. 🤷🏼
He is a charismatic black pastor in Georgia.

Looks like Trump is going to support Loeffler and Perdue.
The races both go from lean to likely R.

Yeah, they are going to sweep both.
Ugh I hate traitors, but unfortunately their existence as a party is legitimatized.

Yeah Democrats are going to lose.
They aren’t even punching back at these Warnock attacks enough.
Schumer should lose his job.

Speaking of McGrath, she's finally trying to summon resistance boomers to important Senate races:

Oh no this might be the kiss of death. Tell national Dems to stay away from Ga and let them run their own campaign like jeez

Not that this election was winnable for Democrats

Wrong.

I was talking about Kentucky. Democrats can absolutely win both Georgia seats.
At the rate things are going...definitely not.

I made an **s of myself for being a Democrat “doomer” this last election, so I will do it again but in reverse.
Yes
Both Ossoff and Warnock will easily overperform their polling and Atlas will be shocked if (bold if) nothing changes at this rate.

Also Ossoff and Warnock will get nearly the exact same percentage. Split ticket voting is a no-go these days.

Well those two races are safe R now.
This is the worst news I have woken up to this month.
I was hoping Trump would lash out but nope.

Could be a problem for democrats
Possibly, but I think 2020 should have taught everyone to not read too much into early numbers. They can give indications, but they certainly aren’t definitive.

No, Perdue's race is Safe R because Atlanta suburbanites LOVE corruption, racist dog whistles, and a senator who votes with his party like 100% of the time. But Loeffler's race is a toss-up at best for Republicans because she's a shrill extremist who campaigned with Greene.

#sexism #analysis
No you see harry keeping calling qoeffler is gonna totally work rather than you know attacking the multi millionaire on insider trading.

FWIW I've seen more ads about insider trading than anything else. Every time I try to watch a YouTube video I'm treated to "David Perdue was EXONERATED" before I can skip and it feels like the only things on TV are ads about Loeffler's trading.

Yeah I believe the attacks on Loeffler about insider trading are a bit shaky considering the amount of money that was traded relative to her total worth was relatively low but its a quite wise course of attack especially as I doubt explaining to the average voter you only made trades of 5 million from your net worth of 500 million is a great way to connect. Now Perdue/Loeffler have to waste time going on the defensive.
“Buh her trading!”

This race is now Safe R unless Perdue gets arrested or Obama campaigns for Ossoff and Warnock.

Phil Scott would do the same if he could as well.
All Republicans are spineless and have been complicit in the destruction of America, I don’t care how nice they seem they are watching our country die for fun.

Oh my god, I would pay literally all my money to be able to jump into Warnock's body and just trash the s--t out of Loeffler.  I think this is one of those places where the Trump debate strategy is really called for.  Just call her out for relying on the same 4 lies, interrupt her every time she lies, call her a child for continually using the "radical liberal Raphael Warnock" thing, etc.

By the way, leftists, have you noticed that Loeffler's entire strategy to win this debate is to accuse Warnock of supporting "defund the police" and the Green New Deal?  Imagine if we hadn't served up those weapons on a silver platter to the GOP.
You think the GOP wouldn’t find something else to make a mountain out of?

I was scrolling through Ossoff’s tiktok, and he definitely is running an energetic campaign, far more so than Warnock. Ossoff seems to be taking a #populist tone against Perdue. I think he may do better than we thought.

Why did Ossoff not bring this energy before November then? He was just 0.3% away from being denied the chance to go to a runoff at all, and that would have cost Democrats the Senate. Warnock at least had the excuse that a runoff in the special was inevitable.
Maybe he did but just never gained traction.
Regardless why dwell on the past?
What matters is we are in a fight right now.

apparently 7% of voters who are voting in the runoffs did not vote in the general, I wonder who they are? its weird

My take is that it's voters who now realize that their vote actually matters, but idk if this group is primarily red or blue.

Republican turnout in the general was nearly 90%, so I'd be astonished if they're managing to turn out voters who didn't vote in the general at this point.

Inshallah. I also know that voter registration groups (at least the ones I've worked with) have been mega focused on voters who turn 18 between the election and the runoff, so that's probably at least a significant part of that group, and I have to imagine that those voters are overwhelmingly Democratic.
They are Ossoff Loeffler voters.
They love Ossoff because he is a cute young millennial, but they also are voting Loeffler because they want one male and female for equality.

I actually do feel less “doomery” about this race, I think there are some possible factors towards our favor. Still, a pure tossup is a pure tossup.

Former camper at Warnock’s church camp recounts abuse that took place.
Quote

Among the indignities 12-year-old Anthony Washington endured at the church camp overseen by Reverend Raphael Warnock: counselors who tossed urine on him and locked him outside his cabin overnight.

Washington, now 30, recounted the events in an interview with the Washington Free Beacon and said his experience at the camp resulted in a 2003 lawsuit that ended two years later, when Washington says he and his family received a large financial settlement.

Washington’s account of the 2002 events provides the first direct insight into the alleged abuse and neglect that transpired at Camp Farthest Out, which Warnock oversaw as senior pastor of Maryland's Douglas Memorial Community church, and raises new questions for the Democrat, who is currently vying for a Senate seat in Georgia.

Washington expressed surprise when he was told Warnock is currently running for U.S. Senate in Georgia. "I don’t think nobody like [Warnock] should be running for damn Senate nowhere, running a camp like that," he told the Free Beacon. "He should not be running for government."

Warnock has faced scrutiny over his 2002 arrest for allegedly obstructing a child abuse investigation by Maryland State Police that centered on the camp's treatment of children. Washington's account is buttressed by records from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, obtained by the Free Beacon earlier this month, which indicated that campers were routinely left unsupervised; staffers were not subject to required criminal background check; and at least five cases of child abuse or neglect were brought against the camp's director, who was ultimately forced to resign.

Is that the smear your side is conjuring to distract the American people from your godawful plans to pickpocket the average American some more?
Is that how you get voters to ignore the GOP’s support of one of the worst healthcare systems in any industrialized nation?
Is that how you get voters to ignore your party’s unhinged beliefs on the economy which have created most of the current problems we see today?

Hopefully Democrats ignore these smears just like the GOP ignores the needs of the American people.
Even if true, Warnock is still infinitely better for office than inside-trader Loeffler.

If Perdue backs the $2k checks, I'm voting for Ossoff. I don't see the point of voting R on the basis of fiscal conservatism if they're not going to even try to be fiscally prudent.
Fair enough, although you probably are in the minority with that opinion fwiw.
I would think a majority of the people would want the 2k stimulus checks.
At least that’s what the general consensus seems to be from what I’ve seen.

I am very impressed by Ossoff.
He is a young and certainly charismatic man.
I hope he wins so that he can build his profile more.

My wife and I just dropped off our ballots. We put a lot of thought into our votes - even more so than in the general election - and regardless of how this turns out, I'm pleased that there's been so much civic engagement this year. Thank you to everyone on this forum for sharing their perspectives and happy New Year's Eve!

I was considering not sharing who we voted for because folks will read too much into it but since I know everyone will ask, we did end up voting Ossoff / Warnock for the Senate races. We ultimately didn't feel Perdue / Loeffler demonstrated enough independence from Trump in light of the stimulus bill / election fraud theatrics and this was the tipping point, given we wanted senators that could work constructively and independently with the Biden administration. That said, we remain concerned about our country's fiscal situation and will be evaluating in 2022 where things stand.

I voted R for the PSC (the utilities oversight board in GA) race, for reasons I won't discuss in detail in a Senate-focused thread, but I am in general in favor of nuclear power and this was something the incumbent seemed to support.

Thank gosh more people are coming around to it.
Anti-nuclear activists are so naive, half of them would support nuclear energy at least as a temporary solution if they understood it fully.

Yeah, Ossoff's klansman attack is such BS. The Chinese communist attack against Ossoff also seems to be pretty BS.
Good.
I would respect Ossoff more if he was willing to lie to voters for partisan gain since he is a Democrat.
