WaPo has clarified that "can't confirm" doesn't mean they're skeptical, just that they...can't confirm.

The accusations against Fairfax are really, really serious (that he forced this woman to perform oral sex by pushing her head down). If true, he obviously shouldn't be in power. We should have an open mind and see where this goes.

Is all of America really turning into a tv show

Ugh

It's the left. Politicians always had mistresses. Nobody cared. A dance contest 35 years ago? Who would have thought?

They're ransacking the past and trying to create this "pure" world, that doesn't exist, never did, and never will. Everyone will always have something to hold against them.

Leave them alone and let them do their god damn job. Enough.

No one is attacking Fairfax for "having a mistress," they're questioning whether he physically forced a woman to suck him off. Consent matters...there's a reason people aren't up in arms about Kamala Harris sleeping with a married man 20 years ago: it was a consensual affair.

Tyson's statement seems very credible.

Snowguy, how the hell are these three supposed to govern VA for three years, especially as Democrats in a state where blacks basically are the party outside of DC suburbia? The VA Democratic Party needs the confidence of blacks to govern. With Governor Klansman at the helm, that's totally impossible. He needs to go.

...but Fairfax definitely needs to go first.

100% Agreed. Fairfax doesn't deserve the "honor" of being Gov of VA even for a few hours.

Northam is a grade A moron and a (former?) racist.

Fairfax, if true, is a monster.

No comparison.

Stepped away from politics for a week, and there's this massive mega-thread about Virginia.  Let's see if I have this right.  The Virginia Governor was photographed in blackface, the Lt. Governor was charged with sexual assault, and the attorney general has admitted to wearing a blackface rapper costume?

I'll just add to the conversation my opinion that I really couldn't care less about white people painting their faces black.  Obviously, a white person is going to paint their face black if it's part of a costume that imitates a black celebrity or character. Context matters.  I think most African Americans know the non-racist intention behind these costumes, and simply over-react due to prodding by the Democrat Party.  Naturally, Republicans are going to jump on the opportunity to criticize Democrats that wear black face, because that is the standard created by the Democrat Party.  Failing to push these politicians out of office is an admission of hypocrisy.  It's an admission that Democrats never truly cared about these issues.  They are mere political tools for the Democrats to use against their opposition.

If the Democratic Party "never truly cared" you wouldn't get all 7 Dem House members from VA, both Dem Senators from VA, ex VP Biden, and most recent nominee HRC all saying Northam has to go. It's just that Northam knows that there's no real way to force him out short of a lengthy impeachment with questionable chances of success.

There is no way we can have a rapist in high office as a Democrat. Fairfax must go.

My god. What is wrong with these people? How can they be so tone deaf and gaffe prone?

How does it feel to be named after this state?

Might want to change your name to something less embarrassing, like Alabama or Arkansas. Wink

It's only been two months, and I have totally forgotten about this.

That’s not something to brag about; the LG of Virginia is a rapist.

Joe Biden said he was the Governor VA needed right now when he called for Northam's resignation, lol.

That looks worse as time goes by, doesn't it?

No?

It's not like Biden (or almost anyone else) had any idea about the allegations against Fairfax.

Nobody calling for Fairfax to be governor knew anything about him except that he was a black dude.

I don't think that's why people wanted him to replace Northam, I think it was more because he was scandal-free (at the time) and people wanted Northam gone.

I know but it was why Democrats near and far were going on about him representing some kind of hopeful future for the state.

Not...really? It's that Dems really, really wanted "Not Ralph Northam," and Fairfax being a compelling young figure was just a benefit.

It's a be careful what you wish for moment, obviously. No one today would pick Fairfax over Northam.

Northam's still an idiot, like a real, honest to God idiot. Fairfax is a monster. Former's still better.
